CHICAGO – Big performances from the University of Chicago women's divers highlighted Saturday's home swimming & diving tri-meet with Washington University – St. Louis and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
UChicago's women topped WashU 159-139 and CMS 180.5-119.5 in the team scoring. The Maroon men beat CMS 156-132 and lost to WashU 197-83.
The divers produced the most impressive results of the day, sweeping the top three spots on both the one-meter and three-meter boards. First-year Elizabeth Cron, junior Agnes Lo and first-year Alice Saparov all posted NCAA provisional qualifying scores in the three-meter dive, with Cron leading the way with 291 points. Lo and Cron put up NCAA provisional qualifying scores in the one-meter as well, as Lo broke her own school record with a score of 302.80.
First-year Alice Ye emerged victorious in both the 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard backstroke. The UChicago women swept the top three positions in the 200-yard butterfly as well. Junior Nicole Garcia (100-yard butterfly) and sophomore Gillian Gagnard (100-yard backstroke) were also individual winners.
Junior Taye Baldinazzo was the winner in the men's 200-yard freestyle. The 200-yard freestyle relay team also finished first with the quartet of sophomore Jonathan Mendley, junior Byrne Litschgi, senior Winston Wang and senior Alexander Farrell.
