Daly graduated from Middlebury in 2012 with a degree in geology. He was a four-year varsity letterwinner, earning All-American accolades his sophomore and junior seasons. He spent the 2014 summer coaching the Quince Orchard Swim Team in Maryland, and the 2013 summer learning from the coaching staff at the University of Texas as well as coaching at the Harvard University Swim Camp.
