KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The University of Chicago men's tennis team completed play at the three-day Western Michigan University Vredevelt Invitational Sunday afternoon.
Competing in singles competition against NCAA Division I opponents, first-year Alex Guzhva picked up the lone victory of the day, downing Gabriel Carvajal of Valparaiso in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
Sophomore Jeremy Yuan fell in a battle in Flight D bracket, taking Western Michigan's Nick Schnobel to a Set 2 tiebreaker in a 7-6 (3-0), 6-3 loss. The same was to be said for senior Charlie Pei, who pushed Illinois State's Egehan Sertkaya to a tiebreaker in the first set, eventually falling by a 7-6 (10-0), 6-4 score.
