BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The University of Chicago track and field teams combined for seven event victories at the Illinois Wesleyan University Indoor I-55 Triangular on Saturday.
The Maroon women scored 90.5 points to win the tri-meet, while IWU was second (73.5) and Washington University-St. Louis was third (69). WashU's men won with 111 points, followed by UChicago with 90 and IWU with 24.
Freshman Patrick LeFevre beat the field by 0.45 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.46. Junior Ben Clark sprinted to a win in the 200 meters in 22.83 after taking runner-up in the 60 meters earlier. Sophomore Andrew Maneval launched past the competition in the shot put as his winning heave of 14.58 meters won by just over four feet.
The UChicago women were led by junior Nkemdilim Nwaokolo, who won both the shot put (12.56 meters) and the weight throw (14.68 meters). Junior Rebecca Askins-Gast was victorious in the 800 meters (2:22.42) and junior Nelson Trotter finished first in the high jump (1.66 meters).
