UChicago Track & Field Teams Earn High Marks in Final Qualifiers

WAVERLY, Iowa AND KENOSHA, Wis. – In the final tune-up before the NCAA Division III indoor track & field national qualifiers are revealed, the University of Chicago track & field teams had several strong individual showings at both Carthage College and Wartburg College Final Qualifier meets.

Friday at Carthage, UChicago junior Alexander Scott continued his prowess in the throwing events, this time besting his own school record in the shot put by 30 centimeters and recording a mark (16.57 meters) that will likely qualify him for the national field. Saturday, the Maroon men's 4x400 relay team of Dillon O'Loughlin, Elliott Paintsil, Ben Chaimberg and Tyson Miller ran a solid 3:20.10 for fifth place and distance runners Chase Gardner (fourth, 8:29.55) and Henry Myers (fifth, 8:37.59) placed Top 5 in the 3,000 meters.
