BOSTON – The University of Chicago track & field teams brought home four more All-American finishes to lead the Maroons on the final day of the 2019 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.

Sophomore Sophie Elgamal led the way with her third-place finish in the women's 3,000 meters, where she set a new personal-best time of 9 minutes, 46.79 seconds. Coming in as the eighth seed, Elgamal garnered her second career All-American finish after earning the honor during fall's cross country season.

Friday's national champion in the long jump – UChicago first-year Isabel Maletich – followed up her big day with another All-American honor, placing sixth in the triple jump (11.77m) after entering the competition as the 10th seed.

Finally, it was a good day for the Maroons in the women's high jump, as both Laura Darcey and Alexandra Thompson leapt to All-American status, with Darcey matching her personal-best (1.68m) for a tie for sixth and Thompson making the podium in a wild five-way tie for eighth (1.63m). Darcey entered the meet as the 18th seed.

On the men's side, sophomore Ryan Cutter took 11th (8:33.04) in the 3,000 meters, and in an unfortunate turn of events, junior Alexander Scott was unable to score after sustaining an injury on his first shot put attempt.

With the UChicago women's team totaling five All-American finishes, the Maroons took sixth place (21.7 points) out of 109 teams, which stands as the second-highest placing in program history at the indoor national meet.

Williams won the women's team championship, edging WashU by two points, and perennial champion North Central won the men's championship handedly.
