WINNECONNE, Wis. -- The University of Chicago men's and women's cross country teams finished seventh and second, respectively, at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational on Saturday.
A total of 19 nationally-ranked teams competed on the men's (11 teams) and women's (eight teams) sides at Lake Breeze Golf Club.
In the women's 6,000-meter race, Chicago finished second out of 37 teams with 114 points. Calvin College was the team winner with 91 points. Julia Sizek was the lead runner for the Maroons, finishing in eighth place in a time of 22:07. Michaela Whitelaw took 18th in a time of 22:41, Brianna Hickey was 26th in 22:50, Maggie Cornelius was 27th in 22:52, Elise Wummer was 35th in 23:02, Catherine Young was 67th in 23:27, and Sarah Peluse was 83rd in 23:44.
The Maroons men ended up seventh out of 38 teams in the 8,000-meter race. Chicago scored 221 points, while the team winner was Calvin with 52 points. Billy Whitmore ended up seventh individually in 25:14. Isaac Dalke finished 35th in 25:54, Renat Zalov was 57th in 26:10, Henry Blood was 60th in 26:11, Samuel Butler was 62nd in 26:11, Kevin On was 63rd in 26:12, and Michael Frasco was 68th in 26:17.
The Maroons are back in action at the North Central Cardinal Open at 3 PM on Friday.
