CHICAGO, Ill. -- Seven members of the University of Chicago cross country teams were named All-Region by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday.
The Maroon women placed their top six finishers on the All-Region list thanks to the team's second place at Saturday's NCAA Midwest Regional. The six honorees were Julia Sizek (sixth), Catherine Young (13th), Brianna Hickey (21st), Michaela Whitelaw (29th), Elise Wummer (30th) and Maggie Cornelius (32nd). With the second-place result, the Maroons will participate as a team at next Saturday's NCAA Division III Championship.
UChicago's men were represented by Billy Whitmore's All-Region selection. Whitmore's seventh-place time of 24:38 at the NCAA Midwest Regional also gauranteed him a spot at next week's NCAA Championships as an individual. He will look to repeat as an All-American this year after his seventh-place showing at last year's nationals.
