AURORA, Ill. -- Six runners placed in the top 10 individually to lead the University of Chicago men's cross country team to a first-place finish at the Aurora University Invitational on Friday.
The Maroons totaled 21 points in the 14-team field, easily outdistancing North Central College in second place (69 points) and Wheaton College in third place (91).
UAA Athlete of the Week Billy Whitmore was the winner by 7.3 seconds in a time of 25:11.9. A trio of Maroons finished 3-4-5 simultaneously - Renat Zalov in 25:46.4, Isaac Dalke in 25:46.6, and Daniel Povitsky in 25:46.6.
Michael Frasco took eight place in 26:14.6, Wyatt Jones was 10th in 26:17.1 and Kevin On finished off the scoring in 26:17.4. A total of 188 runners participated in the 8K course at Oakhurst Forest Preserve.
Chicago is next in action at the Illinois Intercollegiates on September 14th in Bloomington, Ill.
