Chicago men's cross country fourth at Illinois Intercollegiates

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The University of Chicago men's cross country team placed fourth out of 29 teams at the Illinois Intercollegiates on Friday.

North Central College finished with the top two individual runners and took first place as a team with 33 points. The Cardinals were followed by University of St. Francis (51), Augustana College (83) and Chicago (89).

The Maroons, ranked No. 11 in the country in latest USTFCCA national poll, were led individually by senior Billy Whitmore. He finished in fourth place with a time of 24:48 in the field of 270 runners.

Chicago's other point scorers were Daniel Povitsky in 15th (25:18), Isaac Dalke in 20th (25:31), Renat Zalov in 21st (25:33) and Kevin On in 29th (25:49). Henry Blood finished in 33rd (25:54) and Wyatt Jones rounded out the results in 37th (26:03).

The Maroons will have next week off and then will return for the Loyola Lakefront Invitational on September 29.
