CHICAGO – University of Chicago's Ryan Cutter earned 2019 Men's Regional Athlete of the Year distinction from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday.
Last weekend, Cutter was the individual medalist in the NCAA Midwest Regional, winning the 8K race in a time of 24:32.6. He became the first Maroon man to win a regional title, beating out a field of 253 runners.
The junior has won four of the five races he's appeared in this season. He has also come away with victories at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship, the Augustana College Brissman/Lundeen Invitational and the Wheaton College Gil Dodds Invitational.
Cutter and both UChicago cross country teams will be racing at the NCAA Division III Championships this Saturday, Nov. 23 in Louisville, Ky.
