UChicago Softball Alumna Kim Ng Hired as General Manager of Miami Marlins

CHICAGO - University of Chicago alumna Kim Ng (AB'90) was officially announced as the new General Manager for the Miami Marlins on Friday. She becomes the first female general manager in Major League Baseball history.

Ng was a varsity softball player for the Maroons during her collegiate career, playing primarily at shortstop and third base. She graduated in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in public policy. As a collegiate student-athlete, Ng was named team captain and team MVP. She also was president of the Women's Athletic Association during the 1989-90 academic year.

Her 30 years of experience within professional baseball has included front office tenures with the Chicago White Sox (1990-96), New York Yankees (1998-2001) and Los Angeles Dodgers (2002-11). Ng held the position of Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations for Major League Baseball from 2011-20.
