CHICAGO – Big performances from University of Chicago basketball players Olariche Obi and Jake Fenlon were rewarded with Athlete of the Week status from the University Athletic Association (UAA) on Monday.
Obi spearheaded the Maroon effort in a 74-70 home victory against Elmhurst College on Friday. She was a force on the floor with 21 points, 15 rebounds, four steals and three blocks. It marked her third double-double of the season, and the fourth time she has snagged at least 15 rebounds this year.
The junior forward is averaging 9.8 points, 12.4 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game.
Fenlon put up a game-high 23 points on last Wednesday in an 81-76 overtime win at home over Albion College. He made five three-pointers, grabbed five rebounds and led the team in scoring for the seventh time in eight games.
The senior guard is averaging 21.3 points and 3.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 42.6 percent from three-point range. He currently leads the nation in three-pointers made (46).
