ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Taylor Lake scored 25 points and Mia Farrell provided the late-game scoring to lift the No. 17 University of Chicago women's basketball team to a 78-75 conference victory over host University of Rochester Friday night on the road.

Lake finished 10-of-19 from the field and added seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals and Farrell had 13 points (5-of-6 from the field) and five boards, but her most important bucket came with seven seconds left.

With the Maroons (17-4, 8-2 University Athletic Association) tied at 75-all after a Lake made layup at the 58 second mark, Farrell came up with a steal to give the ball back UChicago. Thirty-two seconds later, she made what turned out to be the game-winning bucket (and was fouled); sunk the ensuing free throw and put the visitors up 3, 78-75.

The UChicago defense then held, forcing Rochester into a missed 3-pointer and it was none other than Farrell with the defensive rebound to seal the road win.

Senior Olariche Obi added a stellar double-double with 15 points (7-of-11 from the field) and 10 rebounds and Miranda Burt chipped in 11 points for the Maroons, who led at the break, 38-28, and after one quarter, 23-12.

The Maroons shot a crisp 50 percent (30-of-60) from the field and 47.1 percent (8-of-17) from the 3-point line compared to the Yellowjacket's (9-12, 3-7) 40 percent (28-of-70) and 21.4 percent (3-of-14) effort. Rebounds were nearly even, with UChicago winning the battle by one, 38-37.

Rochester was able to keep the game close due to the turnover margin, as the Yellowjackets recorded a game-high 12 steals and forced the Maroons into 19 turnovers, while only committing nine. The Yellowjackets scored 20 points off those turnovers.

Lena Ethington led the hosts with 21 points.
