CHICAGO – University of Chicago women's basketball was represented by Olariche Obi and Taylor Lake on the D3hoops.com All-Central Region list on Monday. Both Maroons were Second Team All-Region picks.
Obi was a repeat Second Team selection for the second-straight year. She was previously named First Team All-University Athletic Association and UAA Defensive Player of the Year. The senior forward led the team in numerous categories, including rebounds (8.1), field-goal percentage (.474), blocks (21) and steals (52). Obi also ranked fourth on the team in scoring at 10.1 points per game. She concluded her career with 1,076 points – the tenth-most in school history. In the career rankings, Obi is second in rebounds (903), fifth in steals (216), sixth in blocked shots (113) and sixth in field-goal percentage (.495).
Lake picked up her first All-Region accolade. She was selected to the First Team All-UAA in late February. The junior forward paced the Maroons in scoring at 14.3 points per game. Lake shot 43.1 percent from the field and also averaged 6.2 rebounds per game. She led the squad in assists (58) and blocks (21) while adding 41 steals. Lake has totaled 970 points through her first three years.
