Maroon Women’s Basketball Releases 2019-20 Schedule

CHICAGO – The University of Chicago women's basketball team will take on a nationally-competitive slate with its 2019-20 schedule.

The 25-game schedule features five opponents who achieved Top 25 national rankings at the end of the 2018-19 season*, and a total of six teams qualified for last year's NCAA postseason.

Head Coach Carissa Sain enters her eighth season at the helm of the Maroons. Her squad kicks off the year at home against #18 University of Texas-Dallas on Nov. 10, immediately followed by #22 Illinois Wesleyan University on Nov. 12. UChicago then hits the road for games at University of Wisconsin-Platteville (Nov.16) and #25 Wheaton College (Nov. 12).

This annual Midway Classic will be played in the Ratner Athletics Center from Nov. 22-24. Opponents include #7 Trine University and Kenyon College. That weekend tourney kicks off a six-game homestand versus Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Nov. 26), Mount Mary University (Dec. 4), Elmhurst College (Dec. 7) and Carthage College (Dec. 15). The last non-conference game will occur at North Central College on Dec. 18.

The University Athletic Association begins league play on Jan. 11, with the Maroons traveling to rival #10 Washington University – St. Louis. The Bears made a deep run in last year's NCAA postseason while Emory University (Jan. 31 and Feb. 7) were an at-large pick to the championship field.

The 14-game UAA schedule will also feature Carnegie Mellon University (Jan. 17/Feb. 14), Case Western Reserve University (Jan. 19/Feb. 16), New York University (Jan. 24/Feb. 21) and Brandeis University (Jan. 26/Feb. 23). Senior Day will mark the final regular season contest when UChicago hosts WashU on Feb. 29.

The Maroons are coming off a 19-7 overall record and a 10-4 UAA mark in 2018-19. UChicago advanced to its third-straight NCAA Tournament as well.
