CHICAGO – A tidal wave of pins turned Friday night's wrestling dual into the quickest meet of the season, as University of Chicago wrestling routed Augustana College 39-18 on Friday night.

The No. 24-ranked Maroons improved to 8-3 while the Vikings fell to 1-10.

After recognizing the team's seniors prior to lineup introductions, UChicago blazed through the evening's competition in a mere 35 minutes. The two teams exchanged forfeits at the top of the lineup, which meant 141 pounds was the first contested bout. Sophomore Chaise Hauck started the pin parade at the 2:28 mark, and sophomore Alec Gleason repeated the feat in 1:19 at 149 pounds.

Augustana countered with a second-period fall of its own to chop the lead to 18-12. But the Maroons won the next four matches to run away with the result. The 165-pound weight class was the only one that went the distance, as sophomore Will Britain earned a 12-4 major decision. No other match reached the third period.

First-year Ben Sarasin (174 pounds) had the quickest pin of the night at 1:13. Senior John Jayne dominated his opponent for a 20-2 technical fall, and junior Nick Carola also scored a first-period pin at 197 pounds. The heavyweight match ended with a Viking pin to conclude the dual.
