ANGOLA, Ind. – University of Chicago wrestler Ben Sarasin extended his undefeated streak to start the season en route to capturing the 184-pound title at Saturday's Trine University Invitational.
Sarasin came into the day at 5-0 with one invite title under his belt already from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Invite. The sophomore blazed his way into the final, dominating three opponents by scores of 13-3, 12-3 and 18-1. In the final against Wheaton College's Isaac Odell, Sarasin emerged with a 3-2 victory.
First-year Griffin Seyfried also made a title match at 133 pounds. His first three bouts resulted in scores of 8-5, 18-1 and 13-3. He lost to his Indiana Tech opponent in the final via first-period fall.
Junior Dominick Reo competed at 197 pounds and placed fourth in the weight class. He posted a 3-2 mark with two pins.
At 157 pounds, senior Steve Bonsall compiled a 4-2 record on the day, eventually winning the fifth-place match by a 7-3 margin.
Junior Will Hare racked up five victories at heavyweight to finish fifth. He pinned three opponents in the back draw.
