KENOSHA, Wis. – The No. 7-ranked University of Chicago women's soccer team recorded its fifth shutout of the season in a 1-0 win at Carthage College on Saturday.
The Maroons improved to 8-1-0 while the Lady Reds fell to 3-6-0.
The first half was scoreless for both sides, with UChicago taking four shots and Carthage attempting two. Both shots by the Lady Reds were on goal, however, senior goalkeeper Jacinda Reid made saves on both in her 45 minutes of play.
Reid gave way to senior goalie Mallory Morse in the second half, and the Maroons didn't take long to get some offensive support. Less than two minutes into the new half, UChicago freshman defender Kaitlin Price headed in her third goal of the season with freshman forward Mia Calamari providing her team-leading sixth assist.
The 1-0 lead held the rest of the way to clinch the win for the visitors. UChicago outshot Carthage 12-6, while the hosts led corner kicks 3-2. Morse also made two saves and ran her season record to 5-0-0.
