Maroon women’s soccer shuts down Rochester 2-0

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The No. 13-ranked University of Chicago women's soccer team took advantage of its offensive opportunities and shut out University of Rochester 2-0 on Friday.

The Maroons (11-2-0 overall, 2-1-0 UAA) posted their seventh shutout of the season and the Yellowjackets fell to 5-5-3 and 1-2-0 in the UAA.

The senior goalkeeper tandem of Mallory Morse and Jacinda Reid split up the game with 45 minutes apiece. Both goalies made one save as UChicago's defense held Rochester to six shots in the game.

Junior forward Julia Ozello put the visitors on the board from 12 yards out at the 36:02 mark of the first half. Fellow junior forward Mary Bittner assisted on the goal. The game remained 1-0 until the 84th minute, when junior midfielder Nicole Mullen scored on a header off a corner kick by freshman forward Mia Calamari. It was Calamari's team-leading 10th assist of the season.

In the final statistics, UChicago led in both shots (9-6) and corner kicks (6-3). Morse earned the win to move to 7-0-0 on the year.
