WHEATON, Ill. – The No. 12-ranked University of Chicago women's soccer team lost 3-0 at No. 7-ranked Wheaton College on Thursday.
The Maroons fell to 11-3-1 on the year and the Thunder improved to 13-1-2.
Both teams put most of their attempts on goal in the first half. A combined 12 out of 18 shots were on frame in the opening 45 minutes. Wheaton took the lead with header goals in the 13th and 35th minutes.
The Thunder went up 3-0 after scoring one-on-one from the right side of the goalie box in the 61st minute. The Maroons created more offensive chances for themselves over the final half hour, however, the score remained unchanged. UChicago outshot Wheaton 10-6 in the second half of play.
In the final stats, Wheaton led shots 18-16 as both sides put nine shots on goal. The Maroons collected all three of the game's corner kicks. Freshman forward Mia Calamari paced the team with three shots.
Senior goalkeeper Mallory Morse (7-1-0) made five saves and allowed two goals in the first half. Senior Jacinda Reid took over goalie duties in the second half, totaling one save and one goal allowed.
