WALTHAM, Mass. – The University of Chicago women's soccer team tallied goals early in both halves to defeat Brandeis University 2-0 on Sunday.

The No. 1-ranked Maroons kept its perfect season intact with a 17-0 overall record and a 6-0 mark in the University Athletic Association (UAA). The No. 23-ranked Judges fell to 11-4-3 and 2-3-1 on conference play.

UChicago started fast and got on the scoreboard within the opening nine minutes of the game. Junior midfielder Jenna McKinney tallied her team-high 11th goal, assisted by senior forward Madori Spiker on a through ball.

In the 19th minute, sophomore midfielder Hanna Watkins hit the crossbar on a volley. But no more goals would occur in the first 45 minutes.

As the game progressed, Brandeis was able to get effective pressure. The home side put five shots on goal in the first half – more shots on goal than any team has totaled in a full game this year against the Maroons. Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Donovan was up to the task and made the save each time.

Less than four minutes into the second half, first-year forward Katie Jasminski capitalized on a misplayed ball from the goalie and added an insurance goal to make it 2-0.

UChicago's defense kept its shutout streaking rolling with its eighth in-a-row. Donovan moved to 14-0 after playing the first half. She was relieved in the second half by first-year Miranda Malone, who made two saves.

The Maroons led shots 20-14 and corner kicks 9-3.
