CHICAGO – The University of Chicago men's and women's soccer teams were represented with four total selections to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District Soccer Teams.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District Teams are voted upon by the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA). Academic All-District recipients must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution.
Max Lopez received Academic All-District status in men's soccer. The senior forward is also two-time University Athletic Association (UAA) All-Academic Team member. He was recently named First Team All-UAA for the fourth time in his career. The two-time All-American is the all-time leading scorer in UChicago history with 51 goals and 127 points. Lopez has scored 13 goals this season and handed out six assists.
Jenna McKinney received her second-straight Academic All-District women's soccer accolade – she was a CoSIDA Third Team Academic All-American in 2017. A three-time UAA All-Academic selection, McKinney has totaled 43 goals, 21 assists and 107 points in her career. The senior midfielder ranks second all-time in program history in goals and points. McKinney is a two-time All-American and four-time All-UAA player. Her senior campaign featured 10 goals and two assists.
Mackenzie Peebles was an Academic All-District pick for the second year in-a-row. The junior defender scored three goals with one assist this season while helping anchor a defense that shutout six opponents. Peebles is a two-time First Team All-UAA and UAA All-Academic Team selection. She was previously a 2017 Third Team All-American as well.
Katie Donovan also earned a spot on the Academic All-District squad at her goalkeeper position for the second-consecutive year. Donovan posted a 4-3 record in the 2018 season with a 0.86 goals against average, 28 saves and .800 save percentage. The junior has twice been named All-Region, All-UAA and UAA All-Academic. Donovan is UChicago's all-time leader in goals against average (0.46) while ranking second in wins (41).
