RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The No. 13 University of Chicago women's soccer team pushed its unbeaten streak to 11 games with Sunday's tight 1-0 league win at No. 21 New York University to cap a 2-0 University Athletic Association weekend.
The Maroons (10-1-2, 3-0-1 UAA), who haven't lost since dropping a close 1-0 decision to now-ranked No. 7 Pomona-Pitzer, needed a goal from junior Claudia Hodgetts in the 33' minute to complete the weekend league sweep, which included a 2-1 win at Brandeis Friday.
Senior Clare Suter delivered the assist, dropping the ball in the box for Hodgetts, who beat the keeper for her third goal in four matches.
The UChicago defense did the rest, as junior keeper Miranda Malone recorded a match-high five saves in the shutout of the Violets (9-5, 1-3).
The Violets outshot the Maroons by a slim 8-7 margin, though it was even on goal, 5-5. NYU also led in corner kicks, 6-3.
UChicago has three UAA regular-season games left, all at home: Case Western (Nov. 1), Carnegie Mellon (Nov. 3) and WashU (Nov. 9).
