GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Paced by Matthew Staab's effort, the University of Chicago men's and women's divers finished off the second day of the NCAA Diving Regional on Saturday.
Staab was the top finisher for the Maroons with a fifth-place showing in the one-meter dive. The sophomore's score was 469.05. Fellow sophomore Anthony Restaino placed ninth (452.35) and senior Bobby Morales was 18th (384.50).
By virture of his win in the three-meter dive on Friday, Restaino will participate in the NCAA Championships from March 20-23. Staab also earned an invitation to the NCAAs from his three-meter performance as well, while Morales is listed as an alternate for the NCAAs.
Becky Schmidt wrapped up her collegiate career with a ninth-place finish in the three-meter dive. The senior tallied a final score of 412.15.
