UChicago swimming and diving top Wheaton in dual meet

WHEATON, Ill. – The University of Chicago swimming and diving teams both captured dual meet victories at Wheaton College on Saturday.

The Maroon women won by a score of 122-83 while UChicago's men won 117-86. The visitors relied on their depth throughout the meet and swept the top three spots in two different events (women's 200-yard butterfly and women's 500-yard freestyle). UChicago earned 13 total event victories (seven men, six women).

Freshman Michael Todd was a two-time winner in individual events, taking the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:47.81) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:58.90). Fellow freshman Alexander Farrell won the 100-yard freestyle (46.69) and was also part of the top 400-yard freestyle relay team (3:08.77).

Three different women were multiple winners. Freshman Cecile Kurman-Browning, junior Maya Scheidl, junior Alison Wall and freshman Naomy Grand'Pierre combined to take the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:33.59. Kurman-Browning went on to triumph in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:35.52), Scheidl led the way in the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.50) and Wall took the 500-yard freestyle (5:16.84).
