Maroon Swimming & Diving Places Fourth at Conclusion of UAA Championships

ATLANTA – University of Chicago swimming and diving wrapped up the 2018 University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships by taking fourth place in the final team scores on Saturday.

The Emory University men and women repeated as team champions once again with 1,725 points and 2,049 points, respectively. For UChicago, the women tallied 1,210.5 points and the men recorded 1,121 points.

In the awards presentation at the end of the weekend, Maroon first-year Keda Song was selected as the UAA Men's Rookie of the Year.

Sophomore Lance Culjat picked up UChicago's second win of the meet with his victory in the men's 200-yard breaststroke. Culjat finished in a time of 2:01.04 that edged out the runner-up by a mere 0.04 seconds. Junior Alexander Farrell earned All-UAA honors by placing third in the men's 100-yard freestyle in 45.01.

The women received a pair of third-place individual showings that gained All-UAA status. First-year Margaret Wolfson swam a time of 2:19.52 in the women's 200-yard breaststroke, and first-year Gillian Gagnard completed the 200-yard backstroke in 2:02.12.

UChicago also took fourth in both the men's and women's 400-yard freestyle relay.
