CHICAGO – The University of Chicago women's swimming and diving team captured three wins and led the field on Day 1 of the Midwest Invitational, hosted by the Maroons at Meyers-McLoraine Pool Friday.
The Maroon women's team scored 190 points to lead the way in the women's six-team field, followed by Washington-St. Louis at 121 points.
UChicago's men's team stood in fourth in the seven-team field with 49 points, with Washington-St. Louis in front with 184 points.
Senior Hannah Eastman won the 200-yard medley (2:07.53), first-year Taylor Hammill captured the 500 freestyle (5:07.73) and the 400 medley relay team of Nora Sullivan, Ellie Cambron, Sedef Ishaque and Tina Rodriguez also topped the field to round out the Maroon event winners,
First-year Nicole Lin also recorded a solid runner-up finish in the 50 freestyle, finishing in a time of 24.20 seconds.
On the men's side, first-year Graham Lane had the top finish for the Maroons with his sixth-place finish in the 200 IM and sophomore teammate William Ansehl took sixth in the 500 freestyle.
The competition wraps up Saturday starting with a morning session at 11 a.m. CT.
