Maroon Swimming & Diving Earn Four More All-America Honors Friday at NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Chicago swimming & diving teams churned out four more All-America performances on Day 3 of the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships Friday.

Both Reona Yamaguchi and Lance Culjat earned Honorable Mention All-America with their placings in the top 16 in the consolation finals of the 100-yard breaststroke, with Yamaguchi tying for 12th-place (55.61 seconds) and Culjat not far behind in 16th (56.28).

Culjat earned another Honorable Mention honor later in the meet, joining 800 freestyle relay teammates Taye Baldinazzo, Keenan Novis, and Keda Song in their 10th-place time of 6:42.18.

On the women's side, the 800 freestyle relay team of Nadia Redza, Daria Wick, Simone Stover and Hannah Eastman also reached the podium, placing 13th to earn Honorable Mention All-America honors of their own.

First-year Gillian Gagnard just missed out on a place in the finals of the 100 backstroke, tying for 17th in the prelims with a time of 56.47 seconds.

The championships conclude Saturday, with prelims set to begin at 10 a.m. ET at the Indiana University Natatorium.
