CHICAGO – A school-record 26 swimmers were chosen to represent University of Chicago at the 2019 NCAA Division III Championships, held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C. After their regional performances, four UChicago women's divers will also join the national field, bringing the Maroons' final total to 30.

This year's list of Maroon swimming qualifiers includes 13 men and 13 women – the most for both teams in school history. The men are tied for third among all Division III schools in number of qualifiers, the women rank fifth and the combined number is fourth most. The four-day NCAA Championships will be hosted March 20-23 in Greensboro, N.C.

The UChicago women's swimming list had 12 official qualifiers with senior Simone Stover receiving selection as a first alternate to increase the number to 13. Divers Agnes Lo -- the regional champion in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives -- will join UChicago teammates Anna Girlich, Elizabeth Cron and Alice Saparov in the national diving championships held in the same location.

On the men's side, four Maroons are seeded in the top 10 in four individual events. Junior Byrne Litschgi is the top seed in 200-yard backstroke and the seventh seed in the 100-yard backstroke. Junior Taye Baldinazzo is the sixth seed in the 200-yard freestyle. Junior George Reuter and first-year Nick Ding are the seventh and tenth seeds, respectively, in the 200-yard butterfly,

Last year, 17 Maroon qualifiers pulled in 31 total All-American honors. The men placed 12th and the women took 14th in the final team standings.
