KALAMAZOO, Mich. – University of Chicago women's tennis player Ariana Iranpour took second place in the main singles draw at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Region Championships on Monday.

Iranpour came into the tournament as a No. 9 seed and the freshman won her opening six matches over the weekend to reach the singles final. Her opponent on Monday morning was No. 4-seed Rebecca Ho from Washington University-St. Louis. Ho came out the victor 7-5, 6-2.

"Despite the loss today, Ariana played an outstanding tournament, as did the entire team," said Head Coach Jay Tee. "For her to perform the way she did in her second week in college is amazing. What sets her apart from her peers is her attitude and work ethic. She is already asking to get back on the court tomorrow at 7:00 AM to work on her weaknesses, which says all you need to know about her makeup. Ariana and the rest of the team have very bright futures and we are looking forward to where our hard work takes us."
