CHICAGO – The University of Chicago women's tennis team was represented with four honorees on the 2020 All-University Athletic Association (UAA) Team on Tuesday.
The first-year duo of Claudia Ng and Perene Wang received First Team All-UAA status in both singles and doubles. As the No. 1 doubles tandem for the Maroons, Ng and Wang went 19-2 on the year, earning All-American status. They won the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Region doubles title and reached the quarterfinals of the ITA Cup doubles draw. Individually, Ng went 11-2 in singles between the No. 2-4 spots in the lineup, while Wang posted a 9-1 record primarily at the No. 5 spot.
Lauren Park was a 2020 First Team All-UAA singles awardee after previously getting First Team singles and Second Team doubles honors in 2019. The sophomore paced the team in victories with a 17-4 mark playing at the top of the lineup during her All-American season. Park was the ITA Central Region singles champion and advanced to the semifinals of the ITA Cup singles bracket.
Catherine Xu earned her third career All-UAA accolade. The junior was a First Team singles selection after compiling a 12-3 record on the season between the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. Previously, she was 2019 First Team All-UAA in doubles and 2018 Second Team All-UAA in singles.
