BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The University of Chicago women's track and field team finished first while the men's team took second at the three-team Illinois Wesleyan University I-55 Triangular on Saturday.
UChicago's women scored 121 points to top Illinois Wesleyan (110.50) and Washington University in St. Louis (99.50). The Washington-St. Louis men scored 133.50 points, followed by the Maroons (98) and the Titans (87.50).
On the women's side, the Maroons were victorious in six events. Sophomore Nkemdilim Nwaokolo was a multiple winner in the shot put and the weight throw. Her weight throw mark of 15.06 meters was best by three meters. Sophomore Maya Lewinsohn won the 5,000 meters (18:55.37) by 36 seconds over the runner-up. UChicago also took the top three spots in the 1,200 meters, led by freshman Michelle Dobbs and her winning time of 3:43.10.
On the men's side, the Maroons swept the top four places in the 5,000 meters, led junior Kevin On's time of 15:24.03. Senior Daniel Povitsky won the 3,000 meters (8:40.09) by 16 seconds. UChicago won five total events on the day.
