CHICAGO, Ill. – In the first outdoor meet of the year, the University of Chicago track and field teams both won the Ted Haydon Invitational on Saturday.
The Maroons women's team finished first of nine teams with 248 points. UChicago totaled nine event wins on the day. Sophomore Nkemdilim Nwaokolo was a multiple winner in the hammer throw and the discus, topping the field in the latter by more than three meters. Senior Jennie Porter won the 400-meter hurdles and was also part of the winning 4x400-meter relay team. Additionally, UChicago took the top four places in the 400 meters, led by freshman Michelle Dobbs.
UChicago's men were also first out of 10 teams with 198 points scored. The home side picked up six event victories total. Senior Griffin Brunk won the 3,000-meter steeplechase as the Maroons swept the top four spots in the race.
