NAPERVILLE, Ill. – With one week until the national meet, the University of Chicago track and field teams sent a large contingent of athletes to the North Central College Gregory Final Qualifier to improve their marks on Thursday and Friday.
UChicago's women posted seven finishes in the top 10 of their respective events. The 4x100-meter relay team of freshman Eleanor Kang, sophomore Alison Pildner, junior Francesca Tomasi and freshman Michelle Dobbs raced a third-place time of 3:53.00. Dobbs also ran individually in the 400 meters, taking fifth place in 57.95.
On the men's side, the Maroons placed four individuals in the top 10. Sophomore Michael Bennett led the way by finishing runner-up in the pole vault with a height of 4.67 meters. Sophomore Jacob Romeo was sixth in the 100 meters (11.08) and freshman Gareth Joneswas seventh in the 10,000 meters (31:24.58).
