WHITEWATER, Wis. – The University of Chicago women's track and field team took third place overall at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawk Classic Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
The Maroons were third of 10 teams with 102 points, while the host Warhawks ended up on top with 135 points.
UChicago accumulated nine performances that finished top three during the competition. The Maroon women dominated the 5,000 meters, sweeping the top four spots. Senior Madeleine Horvath's winning time of 18:30.15 was best by 14 seconds. The runner-up in the race was junior teammate Claire Costelloe.
Three other Maroons took second in their events. Junior Cassidy McPherson finished the one mile in 5:13.51, sophomore Alexandra Thompson recorded a high jump of 1.60 meters and freshman Mary Martin leapt 5.32 meters in the long jump.
