NCAA Outdoor Qualifiers

CHICAGO – The University of Chicago track & field teams will be represented by six athletes at the upcoming NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

The lists of accepted entries were released on Saturday morning. The three-day championship meet, hosted by University of Wisconsin - La Crosse, will run Thursday-Saturday, May 24-26.

Five UChicago women are set to participate. Senior Khia Kurtenbach leads the way after qualifying in the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters. Over her career, she has qualified for NCAAs in eight events and is a five-time track All-American.

The high jump is chock full of Maroons with three women in the field – junior Alexandra Thompson, sophomore Laura Darcey and senior Ade Ayoola. Darcey was an All-American in the indoor high jump earlier in 2018. This marks Ayoola's third all-time NCAA qualification in the outdoor high jump. Thompson will be making her NCAA debut.

Junior Nicole VacaGuzman will race in the women's 400 meters. A three-time NCAA qualifier in her career, VacaGuzman achieved 2018 All-American honors in the indoor 400 meters.

UChicago's men are represented by Nathan Downey in the pole vault. The senior is a two-time NCAA indoor pole vault qualifier and was a 2018 All-American.
