WAVERLY, Iowa AND KENOSHA, Wis. – In the final tune-up before the NCAA Division III indoor track & field national qualifiers are revealed, the University of Chicago track & field teams had several strong individual showings at both Carthage College and Wartburg College Final Qualifier meets.

On the women's side, first-year Isabel Maletich continued to improve on her own school record in the triple jump with a win and a new career-best (11.82m) at Carthage, while pole vaulters Sidney Lampert (fourth, 3.46m), Rachel TerHaar (sixth, 3.31m) and Tessa Pribitkin (eighth, 3.16m) all placed in the Top 8.

Saturday, junior Claire Brockway ran her best time of the year in the 5,000 meters (17:23.54) as did sophomore Sophie Elgamal in the 3,000 (9:56.37) to give both runners a strong shot at qualifying for the national field.

Other high placers at Wartburg for the Maroon women included Mary Martin in the 200 (second, 25.72) and long jump (second, 5.50m) and Nicole VacaGuzman in the 800 (second, 2:17.07).

Friday at Carthage, UChicago junior Alexander Scott continued his prowess in the throwing events, this time besting his own school record in the shot put by 30 centimeters and recording a mark (16.57 meters) that will likely qualify him for the national field. Sophomore Nike Reid took first place in the 55 meters (6.52 seconds) and first-year John McCormick placed eighth (13.50 meters) in the long jump.

Saturday, the Maroon men's 4x400 relay team of Dillon O'Loughlin, Elliott Paintsil, Ben Chaimberg and Tyson Miller ran a solid 3:20.10 for fifth place and distance runners Chase Gardner (fourth, 8:29.55) and Henry Myers (fifth, 8:37.59) placed Top 5 in the 3,000 meters.
