CHICAGO – Seven members of the University of Chicago indoor track and field teams earned 2019 All-Region status from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCAA) on Monday.
All-Region distinction is given to the top-5 individuals in each event from the nation's eight regions, as well as to each member of the region's top-3 relay teams. A total of 1,590 All-Region honors were given out by the USTFCCCA.
Sophomore Sophie Elgamal led the UChicago women's contingent with All-Region accolades in both the one mile and 3,000 meters. In track events, junior Claire Brockway was represented in the 5,000 meters and first-year Kaitlyn Van Baalen in the 800 meters. In field events, junior Laura Darcey and senior Alexandra Thompson earned inclusion in the high jump, alongside junior Isabel Garon in the pole vault. The Maroon men featured junior Alexander Scott in the shot put.
