UChicago Women Claim Three Titles; Darcey Leads Heptathlon at Wheaton Twilight

WHEATON, Ill. – The University of Chicago women's track & field team scored three event titles and were en route to one more at the conclusion of Tuesday's events at the Wheaton College Don Church Twilight Meet.

Laura Darcey led the women's heptathlon field after four events with 2,904 points, as the junior finished first in the 100 hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200. The final three events – javelin, long jump and 800 – are set for Wednesday.

Isabel Garon (pole vault), Nicole VacaGuzman (800), and Claire Brockway (3,000) all claimed firsts in their respective events to help the Maroons place second to North Central by a mere 8.5 points after 20 events scored.

In total, 19 Maroon women earned Top 7 finishes, including five more second-place finishes: Mary Martin (long jump and 400), Isabel Maletich (triple jump), Abigail Shoemaker (3,000), and Sarika Temme-Bapat (3,000 steeplechase).
