CHICAGO – University of Chicago's Isabel Maletich and Alexander Scott were recognized with Most Outstanding Performer (Field Events) honors on Thursday in the wake of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Over the weekend, the Maroon men and women both finished second in the team standings at the conference championships. The UChicago duo of Maletich and Scott were subsequently voted as MOPs for field events.
Maletich captured UAA titles in the indoor long jump (5.93 meters) and the indoor triple jump (12.08 meters). The 5.93-meters mark in the long jump broke her own school record and the UAA meet record. The sophomore currently owns the top marks in the nation in both events.
Scott was named indoor MOP for the second-straight year. The senior thrower claimed a pair of UAA victories as well in the shot put (17.68 meters) and weight throw (15.92 meters). His shot put distance bettered his own school record and currently ranks second in all of NCAA Division III. The 17.68-meter throw also shattered the UAA meet record by nearly four feet.
