Nicole Murphy enters her sixth season as a full-time Assistant Track & Field Coach and fifth season as Assistant Cross Country Coach in 2019-20. She previously served as a part-time coach for the throwing events since the fall of 2012.
As a collegiate athlete, she put together a very successful four-year run as a member of the UChicago track & field team. Murphy was a multiple All-American, highlighted by a second-place finish nationally in the shot put. She was a seven-time University Athletic Association (UAA) champion in the shot put and owns the conference records for the indoor and outdoor shot put. Over her four years, she scored in the UAA Championships a total of 19 times between the shot put, discus, hammer throw, weight throw and javelin.
Murphy graduated from UChicago in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in South Asian Languages and Civilizations.
