CHICAGO -- Senior outside hitter Isis Smalls (Humble, Texas/ Atascocita) led four Maroons in double digit kills with 15 as the 16th-ranked University of Chicago volleyball team outlasted Dominican University 24-26, 25-22, 25-12, 22-25, 15-13 in its home finale Wednesday night at the Ratner Athletics Center.
Smalls was one of three Maroons making their final career appearance at the Ratner Center, where they have helped their teams win 23 of 27 matches, including 22 straight over unranked opponents, since the 2008 campaign.
Senior outside hitter Colleen Belak (Louisville, Ky./ Presentation) (pictured, right) finished the night with 11 kills, 24 digs, three blocks, and two aces, while senior libero Ali Meyers (Crystal Lake, Ill./ Crystal Lake South) (pictured, left) contributed 21 digs.
Freshman Morgan Barry (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./ University) and junior middle blocker Katie Trela (Glencoe, Ill./ Regina Dominican) hit 13 and 12 kills, respectively. Trela also collected eight blocks.
Jacy Lawrence hit 15 kills for Dominican (23-5).
The Maroons (24-3) return to action Friday and Saturday at the Elmhurst College Invitational.
