HOLLAND, Mich. -- The No. 12-ranked University of Chicago volleyball team split its two matches at the Hope College Triangular on Saturday. The Maroons (4-2) swept Trine University 3-0 and and lost to No. 5-ranked Hope 3-0.
UChicago won its match over Trine in straight sets 25-19, 25-15, 27-25. Junior outside hitter Morgan Barry led a well-rounded offensive attack with 11 kills, nine digs and five aces. Sophomore outside hitter Maren Loe scored eight kills on 17 attempts and senior middle blocker Maggie Vaughn slammed seven kills on 14 attempts with two blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Jasmine Mobley added seven kills. The setter duo of senior Nikki DelZenero and sophomore Ragine Graves tallied 18 assists and 16 assists, respectively. Junior libero Eirene Kim tallied a team-high 19 digs.
The Maroons ended the day with a 25-21, 25-14, 25-19 loss to Hope. Barry topped the team again with nine kills with 11 digs. Kim contributed 22 digs, Graves handed out 12 assists and DelZenero tallied eight assists. Loe added six kills, four digs and two aces.
