UChicago volleyball goes 0-2 at day two of Midwest Challenge

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The University of Chicago volleyball team suffered a pair of losses to Clarkson University (3-2) and Calvin College (3-0) at day two of the Midwest Challenge on Saturday. The No. 15-ranked Maroons dropped to 16-7 on the season.

UChicago started the day facing off with Clarkson (19-6 record). The Maroons earned a hard-fought first set 28-26, but the Golden Knights took the next two sets 25-15 and 25-18. UChicago rallied to grab the fourth set 25-19 and forced a fifth set for the third-straight match. In the deciding set, Clarkson came away with a 15-8 victory.

The Maroons ended its weekend with a match against the host school, No. 1-ranked Calvin (23-0 record). The Knights proved tough in a three-set sweep 25-11, 25-12, 25-16. UChicago made as many errors as kills in the match while Calvin recorded a .341 hitting percentage.
