ELMHURST, Ill. – The No. 16 University of Chicago of volleyball team swept its way to its 11th-straight victory Saturday, downing host Elmhurst College by scores of 25-19, 25-16, and 25-19 to complete a two-win weekend at the Bluejays Quadrangular.
The Maroons (17-3) matched their highest winning streak since the 2011 season, when UChicago won its first 11 games of the year. That team would finish with a 30-6 mark and advance to the NCAA Second Round.
Juniors Audrey Scrafford (13 kills) and Sarah Muisenga (11 kills) and sophomore Anabella Pinton (10 kills) all totaled double-digit kills for UChicago, rookie Emma Griffith delivered a match-best 41 assists and libero Anne Marie Stifter recorded 20 digs to lead the way in the win.
UChicago, who defeated Otterbein 3-0 on Friday, hit a stellar .304 for the match while holding the Bluejays (7-11) to just a .066 attack percentage. The Maroons particularly dominated the final set, recording 19 kills with just five errors to hit a crisp .400.
