ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The 10th-ranked University of Chicago volleyball team had little trouble in its opening round of the University Athletic Association Championship, as the Maroons downed host Rochester 3-1 to open play Friday.

The second-seeded Maroons (27-3, 7-1) defeated the seventh-seed Yellowjackets (23-10, 1-7) by scores of 25-18, 25-14, 21-25, and 25-15 to advance to Friday's semifinals, where UChicago will face No. 3-seed Washington University - St. Louis.

That match is set for 3 p.m. CT in Rochester's Louis Alexander Palestra.

The winner of that match will advance to Saturday's 12 p.m. CT championship, while the loser will play in the third-place match Saturday at 9 a.m.
