CHICAGO – The University of Chicago volleyball team had three players gain All-Region status from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Thursday.
Senior rightside hitter Sarah Muisenga earned the third All-Region honor of her career – she was previously Honorable Mention All-Region in 2016 and 2017. The three-time All-UAA selection leads the Maroons with 323 total kills, while averaging 2.81 kills per set with a .258 hitting percentage. Her 3.02 digs per set are third on the team, as are her 35 service aces.
Sophomore setter Emma Griffith followed up her second All-UAA honor by earning All-Region recognition. She is averaging 10.92 assists per set and ranks second in the nation with 1,310 assists. Additionally, Griffith is second on the team in digs (3.12 per set) and aces (44). UChicago's offense is hitting .247 as a team with Griffith at the helm.
Junior Madison Pearson also received her first All-Region accolade as a middle hitter. Pearson is the most efficient UChicago attacker with a .341 hitting percentage. She is averaging 2.45 kills per set and has served up 30 aces. Her 80 blocks (0.67 per set) lead the Maroons.
