AURORA, Ill. -- For the second-straight year, the University of Chicago women's cross country team won the Aurora University Invitational on Friday.
The victory was also the Maroons' second in as many weeks. Chicago finished with 19 points as all seven scorers placed in the top 10. Aurora University was second in team scoring with 66 points and Carthage College was third with 102 points.
Julia Sizek was the individual winner once again, running the top time of 22:56 in the field of 143 athletes. The senior had plenty of company in the top 10 with Sarah Peluse in third (23:13), Elise Wummer in fourth (23:14), Catherine Young in fifth (23:14), Michaela Whitelaw in sixth (23:17), Maggie Cornelius in eighth (23:33) and Brianna Hickey in tenth (23:50).
Chicago is next in action at the Illinois Intercollegiates on September 14th in Bloomington, Ill.
