BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The University of Chicago women's cross country team kept its strong season rolling with a sixth-place showing at the Illinois Intercollegiates on Friday.
After winning its first two meets, the Maroons finished sixth with 51 points. Julia Sizek led the way once again by taking second place individually in 18:02. Sizek was the medalist in her previous two races this season.
Chicago, which ranked 21st in the latest USTFCCA national poll, got top 20 finishes from its five other runners as well. Elise Wummer nabbed eighth place (18:41), Michaela Whitelaw was right behind in 10th (18:44), Maggie Cornelius ran in 13th place (18:58) and Sarah Peluse ended in 18th place (19:06). Additionally, Brianna Hickey took 24th (19:11) and Isabella Penido was 31st (19:21).
The Maroons return to action at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational on September 29.
